We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Oryx Desert Salt (Natural, Crystal White Oryx Desert Salt From The Kalahari | Oryx Desert Salt SA) is just that, salt sourced from the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The salt comes from ancient, deep, underground saltpans fed by streams, creating a renewable and sustainable resource. It is naturally organic, unprocessed, and free of anti-caking agents.

The brand’s symbol, the Oryx Gazelle, indigenous to the Kalahari Desert, survives on little water by finding salt licks which help them survive the harsh desert.

Oryx Salt is a large crystal salt with a rich, nonbitter, true salt taste. Oryx Salt has approximately 30% sodium which is 10% less sodium than is found in traditional table salt. It comes packaged in a refillable glass bottle with a ceramic grinder. The brand claims the bottle can be refilled 20 or more times before the grinder wears out adding to the sustainability of the brand. Refills, mini grinders, and grinder heads are additionally available.

Oryx Desert Salt is available as plain Desert Salt, Braai Salt (blended with herbs and spices), Smoked Salt, and Wine Salt (blended with Shiraz red wine).
