New in the Market: Kitchen & Love Farro Quick Meals and Quinoa Quick Meals

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

We must admit when we first received Kitchen & Love Farro Quick Meals and Quinoa Quick Meals, we were a little skeptical. Each is packaged in a two-part 7.9-ounce cup with a detachable spoon. These ready-to-eat, cooked, ancient grain meals need no refrigeration, so they can be packed for an on-the-go meal. They can be eaten at room temperature or heated in the microwave. You simply mix the top flavoring section of the package with the larger grain section and eat. We enjoyed all the varieties, as did our tasters, and were pleasantly surprised how tasty and filling they were. Both varieties can also be used as a side to accompany a meal.

Farro Quick Meals come in three varieties and are certified kosher.

With Artichoke, Lemon & Roasted Garlic: One meal has 310 calories, 10 grams of fat, 9 grams of protein, 46 grams of carb (8 grams of fiber, 4 grams of natural sugar), 780 milligrams of sodium and 220 milligrams of potassium.

With Grilled Vegetables & Herbs: One meal has 250 calories, 7 grams of fat, 8 grams of protein, 40 grams of carb (7 grams of fiber, 7 grams of natural sugar), 640 milligrams of sodium and 260 milligrams of potassium.

With Roasted Peppers & Artichoke: One meal has 280 calories, 9 grams of fat, 9 grams of protein, 40 grams of carb (8 grams of fiber, 6 grams of natural sugar), 850 milligrams of sodium and 190 milligrams of potassium.

Quinoa Quick Meals come in four varieties. We tasted three.

With Artichoke & Roasted Pepper: One meal has 250 calories, 9 grams of fat, 8 grams of protein, 36 grams of carb (10 grams of fiber, 2 grams of natural sugar), 700 milligrams of sodium and 480 milligrams of potassium. The meal is certified kosher.

With Basil Pesto: One meal has 460 calories, 34 grams of fat, 9 grams of protein, 32 grams of carb (6 grams of fiber, 2 grams of natural sugar and a trace of added sugar), 720 milligrams of sodium and 420 milligrams of potassium.

With Spicy Jalapeno & Roasted Pepper: One meal has 230 calories, 9 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, 33 grams of carb (6 grams of fiber, 5 grams of natural sugar), 600 milligrams of sodium and 390 milligrams of potassium. The meal is certified kosher.

The meals are sourced from Peru and vegan.
