We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Red Chocolate (www.red-chocolate.com) is a Swiss owned chocolate company with a mission to produce chocolate without refined sugar. They have accomplished this by using a combination of maltitol, erythritol, and stevia to add sweetness without calories.

Maltitol and erythritol are sugar alcohols which are chemical compounds that deliver no actual alcohol and no calories. Both are derived from corn with a sweetness similar to sugar. Stevia is a natural, zero calorie sweetener, native to a plant from South America where it has been used as a sweetener for hundreds of years.

Red Chocolate makes a variety of chocolate products. We tasted their no sugar added, low calorie, 3.5-ounce bars.

Blond Caramelized White Chocolate has 120 calories, 3 grams of natural sugar, 12 grams of sugar alcohols, 52 milligrams of sodium and no potassium.

Dark Chocolate has 80 calories, no natural sugar, 8 grams of sugar alcohols, no sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium. This was our tasters’ favorite.

Hazelnut & Macadamia Milk Chocolate has 100 calories, 3 grams of natural sugar, 8 grams of sugar alcohols, 35 milligrams of sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium.

Milk Chocolate has 80 calories, 3 grams of natural sugar, 8 grams of sugar alcohols, 35 milligrams of sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium.

Orange & Almond Dark Chocolate has 80 calories, less than 1 gram of natural sugar, 8 grams of sugar alcohols, no sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium.

Red Chocolate is NonGMO, gluten free and KLBD kosher certified (About KLBD | KLBD Kosher Certification).
