Aspirin + Omega-3 Fats Fight Inflammation

by Jo-Ann Heslin, MA, RD, CDN on June 26, 2013 · 0 comments

Inflammation is the underlying destructive force in many serious health conditions from lung disease to arthritis to heart disease and possibly even cancer. Experts know that low-dose aspirin and omega-3 fats (olive oil, fish, flaxseeds and walnuts) reduce inflammation but until recently they did not know why.

Regular use of low-dose aspirin helps trigger the production of molecules called resolvins that are made naturally by the body from omega-3 fats. Resolvins shut off or “resolve” inflammation in the body.
