For most adults, it’s perfectly safe to consume 300mg (around three cups of coffee) a day. As a matter of fact, caffeine actually has some positive health benefits. Coffee drinkers have a lower risk of diabetes, and coffee may even lower your risk of heart disease.
Caffeine can increase alertness, wakefulness, prevent memory loss, and improve cognitive function.
If you drink more than three cups a day, cutting down may be a good idea. High doses of caffeine can also lead to palpitations and arrhythmias, as well as inducing anxiety.
As with all things, moderation is always the key.
