Coffee and Green Tea Should Be Part of a Diabetic Meal Plan

Researchers from Japan tracked close to 5,000 people, with type 2 diabetes, for 5 years. Their results showed that drinking 4 cups of green day and 2 cups of coffee each day lowered the risk of death by 63%. Those who drank less still reduced their odds of a premature death, though to a lesser extent.

People with type 2 diabetes are more likely to have heart disease, dementia, cancer and bone fractures, all of which can shorten their lifespan. Though there are effective drugs that help to manage diabetes, a cornerstone of treatment is still diet. Including green tea and coffee into a diabetic meal plan can be a healthy step.
