We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Forij Superfood Granola produces two types of granola both of which contain functional mushroom extracts sourced from Maine.

Superfood Granola Cinnamon Energize contains cordyceps extract and lion’s main extract. Recommended by the brand to be eaten in the morning or as a snack.

Superfood Granola Cinnamon Recover contains reishi extract and chaga extract. Recommended by the brand to be eaten in the evening.

Mushrooms contain compounds that function as adaptogens which offer us resistance to stress and decrease our sensitivity to stressors by providing a higher level of equilibrium and a better adaptation to stress. This is a good thing for many people and the main reason the brand developed granola containing mushroom extracts. However, it needs to be pointed out, that the mushroom extracts are close to the end of the ingredient list which does not allow us to speculate on how much would be found in one serving of granola. Ingredients are listed on labels in descending order by amount.

The nutrition information for both types of granola is the same. One-third cup is considered a serving with 140 calories, 10 grams of fat, 5 grams of protein, 11 grams of carb (with 3 grams of fiber and 3 grams of added sugar), and 80 milligrams of sodium.

Forij Superfood Granola contains gluten-free sprouted oats and is vegan. The granola has a shelf-life of 6 to 8 months but the brand recommends using it within 5 days after the package is opened. It comes in an 8-ounce recloseable bag which is 100% recyclable.

Forij donates 1% of its sales to 1% for the Planet which funds organizations that work to protect the planet.
