We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Ethel’s Dessert Bars (Ethel’s Baking Co. – Gluten-Free Dessert Bars & Cookies (ethels.com) founded in 2011 by Jill Bommarito whose extended family had been dealing with celiac disease for decades. Jill decided to develop dessert bars that were gluten free but reminiscent of old-fashioned baked goods.

Ethel’s Gluten Free Dessert Bars are Certified Gluten Free (Home | Gluten Intolerance Group of North America – GFCO) and certified kosher (OU). They are preservative and additive free and made with locally sourced ingredients. Ethel’s are produced in a dedicated gluten free facility.

The Dessert Bars (2.4-ounces) are available in 4 flavors. We tasted two Dessert Bars.
Pecan Dandy — has 170 calories, 12 grams of fat, 16 grams of carb (of which a trace is fiber with 10 grams of added sugar), 1 gram of protein, 75 milligrams of sodium, and no potassium.
Raspberry Crumble — the most recent addition to the brand line, has 130 calories, 8 grams of fat, 18 grams of carb (of which a trace is fiber with 10 grams of added sugar), 1 gram of protein, 55 milligrams of sodium, and no potassium.

Both bars were delicious and true to the brand’s mission, you would not know that they were gluten free.
