New in the Market: Steeped Coffee

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Steeped Coffee is a large, single serve, teabag full of 100% coffee that is not instant and has not been freeze-dried. When you tear open the individually packaged, nitro sealed envelopes, you get a whiff of fresh ground coffee. The nitro sealing removes oxygen, replacing it with nitrogen to keep the coffee grounds fresh.

To make a cup of Steeped Coffee you pour 8-ounces of hot water over the coffee-filled bag, dunk it for 15 seconds to saturate the grounds, and let it sit for 5 minutes to brew. We were skeptical about this brand at first but pleasantly surprised at what a good cup of coffee Steeped produced with no coffee machine needed. Steeped feels the brand provides both a quality cup of coffee and an environmental solution to the billions of coffee pods accumulating in landfills.

It is available in five varieties. The brand website provides the country, region, bean variety, and processing method used for each variety of coffee.

Sunrise Blend is a light roast coffee.

California Blend is a medium roast coffee.

Odyssey Blend is a dark roast coffee.

Driftwood Blend is a French roast coffee.

All four of these varieties are sourced from Columbia

Eventide Decaf is Swiss water processed and sourced from Ethiopia.

Steeped is kosher certified (TK Kosher) and a Certified B Corporation which is part of a group of for-profit businesses that use their business models for good to promote social and environmental projects.
