We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

As more people follow a flexitarian lifestyle and look for meat and dairy alternatives, non-dairy yogurts fill a needed niche.

Harmless Harvest introduced Organic Dairy-Free Coconut Yogurt to their brand line in early 2020. Harmless Harvest Coconut Yogurt is made from organic young Thai coconuts, with no artificial additives or gums to thicken the texture. It is naturally cultured with seven live probiotic strains that are noted on the label.

Harmless Harvest Coconut Yogurt is available in four flavors in 4.4-ounce cups. All have a creamy texture and a mild flavor with no coconut aftertaste. Except for the fact that each flavor is milder and less tangy than traditional dairy yogurt, it is not obvious that these are coconut milk-based yogurts. The nutrition profile of the flavors is very similar.

Blueberry, Strawberry and Vanilla have 90 calories, 2 grams of fat, 1 gram of protein, 3 grams of fiber, 15 milligrams of sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium. Vanilla has 16 grams of total carb and 7 grams of added sugar as organic cane sugar. Strawberry has 17 grams of carb and 8 grams of added sugar. Blueberry has 18 grams of carb and 8 grams of added sugar.

Plain has 90 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of protein, 14 grams of carb (with 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of added sugar), 15 milligrams of sodium and 94 milligrams of potassium. This one was our favorite.

Harmless Harvest Coconut Yogurt is vegan, USDA Organic, Fair Trade certified, and kosher (OU). Since Harmless Harvest is a plant-based yogurt it is not a source of calcium or vitamin D.

Halsa has launched Organic Oatmilk Yogurt made from organic oats sustainably grown by family farms in Scandinavia.

Halsa Oatgurt comes in a 5.3-ounce cup and is certified USDA Organic, vegan, dairy free, with no added sugar, and certified kosher (OK). It is available in four flavors.

Plain Oatgurt has 80 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 9 grams of carb (with 1 gram fiber and 5 grams natural sugar), 70 milligrams of potassium and 5 milligrams of sodium.

Blueberry Oatgurt has 110 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 20 grams of carb (with 2 grams fiber and 7 grams natural sugar), 140 milligrams of potassium and 5 milligrams of sodium

Mango Oatgurt has 120 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 20 grams of carb (with 1 gram fiber and 8 grams natural sugar), 140 milligrams of potassium and 5 milligrams of sodium.

Strawberry Mango Oatgurt has 120 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 20 grams of carb (with 1 gram fiber and 8 grams natural sugar), 140 milligrams of potassium and 5 milligrams of sodium.

Oatgurt is not as thick as traditional yogurts and since it is nondairy it, too, is not a substantial source of calcium.
