New in the Market: Kazoo Tortilla Chips

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Kazoo Tortilla Chips are an upcycle food brand. The brand rescues and upcycles corn germ from the corn starch industry, using an ingredient that would normally be diverted to animal feed. Kazoo Tortilla Chips contain 40% upcycled corn germ along with new corn growth to produce gluten-free tortilla chips. In addition to using an upcycle ingredient, the brand claims that this also reduces their water usage in growing corn crops and in production. It is a unique and new innovation in food processing.

Kazoo Tortilla Chips come in 3 varieties. We tasted two.

Lime Zest – one serving equals 10 chips (1 ounce) with 140 calories, 8 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 17 grams of carb (with 2 grams of fiber and no sugar), 97 milligrams of potassium, and 95 milligrams of sodium.

Restaurant Style – one serving equals 10 chips (1 ounce) with 140 calories, 9 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 16 grams of carb (with 2 grams of fiber and no sugar), 106 milligrams of potassium, and 100 milligrams of sodium.

All Kazoo Tortilla Chips are certified kosher (Star K). The chips were crunchy and tasty. Our favorite was Restaurant Style. This is a brand worth trying.
