New in the Market: Dorot Gardens Frozen Garlic and Herbs

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Dorot Gardens produces pre-portioned, frozen garlic, onions, and herbs to make cooking easier by eliminating chopping and measuring with seasonings readily available in your freezer. The company is based in southern Israel with 3,500 acres of crops where garlic and herbs are picked, chopped and flash frozen to provide a high quality product. All Dorot seasonings are preservative free, vegan, certified kosher (OK), and Halal.

Dorot garlic and herbs come packaged in a small tray of 16 pre-portioned seasonings which allows you to pop out a premeasured amount, leaving the remaining portions in the freezer for later use.

We tried 3 of the 7 Dorot items:
Chopped Basil – 1 frozen cube = 1 teaspoon with 5 calories and 15 milligrams of sodium.
Crushed Garlic – 1 frozen cube = 1 garlic clove with 10 calories and 45 milligrams of sodium.
Crushed Ginger– 1 frozen cube = 1 teaspoon with 5 calories and no sodium.

The freezer shelf life of the products is a year or more. Each package is dated so the home cook does not need to worry if they do not use up a seasoning quickly.

This is a brand worth a try.
