Grab Some Grapes

by Jo-Ann Heslin, MA, RD, CDN on April 22, 2021 · 3 comments

Grapes are tasty and available year-round. All grapes – red, green or black – contain health-promoting polyphenols. These compounds protect the health and function of our cells, promote antioxidant activity, and positively influence the communication between cells in the body.

Brain Health: Eating grapes daily helped to protect against the decline in Alzheimer’s related areas of the brain.

Heart Health: Many studies have shown that grapes promote healthy circulation and blood pressure, help support healthy lipid levels, reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, and reduce plaque formation.

Skin: Consuming grapes every day protects against UV-induced damage.

Immune Health: Resveratrol, a grape polyphenol, enhances immune function.

Diabetes: Grapes have a low glycemic index so they are a healthy choice for diabetic eating plans.

Research results recommend eating 1 ¼ to 2 ½ cups of grapes daily to achieve maximum health benefits.

I am looking for a vitamin and mineral counter, which of your books best provides this?

Our nutrition counter book series was developed to help readers with specific health issues: weight control (The Calorie Counter); diabetes (The Diabetes Counter) and heart disease (The Fat and Cholesterol Counter). Most people do not track vitamins and minerals daily. The Most Complete Food Counter lists calcium, sodium, potassium, folic acid (a B vitamin) and vitamin C along with 8 other values such as calories, fiber, protein and more. It is available in print form from Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster). The Healthy Wholefoods Counter aids the reader in looking at a more planet-friendly approach to eating. It lists vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid, calcium, iron and potassium along with calories and fiber. It is available in print form from PocketBooks or as an ebook from iTunes or Kindle. I hope this is helpful.
