We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Mr Lee’s Congee Rice Porridge (Mr Lee’s Congee Rice Porridge Instant Pot – Jook 粥 Jūk Konji Okayu – Chinese Savory Oatmeal Breakfast – Chicken Congee (mrleesnoodles.com) is the latest brand extension developed by Australian entrepreneur Damien Lee. Damien was a 5 times cancer survivor whose mission was to provide tasty, on-the-go, traditional foods. Sadly, Mr. Lee recently lost his battle with cancer, but the brand he founded lives on.

The Congee Porridge comes in a plastic cup that requires four simple steps to prepare: 1. Shake the container; 2. Add boiling water to the fill line; 3. Stir; 4. Wait 4 minutes and eat. The brand cautions that the porridge cup is not microwave safe.

The Congee Porridge comes in two flavors.

Original Congee Rice Porridge has 220 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 46 grams of carb (with 2 grams are fiber and a trace of added sugar), 6 grams of protein, 120 milligrams of potassium, and 590 milligrams of sodium. This flavor is vegan.

Chicken Congee Rice Porridge has 210 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 39 grams of carb (with 2 grams are fiber and a trace of added sugar), 10 grams of protein, 150 milligrams of potassium, and 630 milligrams of sodium. This was our favorite.
