We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
No Sugar Aloud are cake mixes that are made in individual cups either in the oven or microwave. Rodolfo Fernandes, who learn to cook with his mother in Brazil and became a classically trained chef, developed No Sugar Aloud mixes with the aim of using less sugar and healthy ingredients.
The mixes are based in almond flour with a sweetener mix of monk fruit, erythritol, organic stevia and maltitol. Each of these sugar replacements have either no calories or very few calories because their sweetening capability is far greater than sugar. Less is needed to get the same sweet taste.
Two No Sugar Aloud mixes are available.
Brownie Mix Belgian Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter: One brownie cake has 120 calories or 220 calories when topped with the extras provided – chocolate chips, organic peanut butter and roasted peanuts.
Golden Cake Mix Coconut Yuzu Cake & Dark Chocolate Ganache: One cake has 160 calories or 230 calories when topped with the extras provided –chocolate ganache and organic coconut flakes.
Each box contains enough baking mix to make 6 single-serve cakes, plus toppings, and baking cups with lids. The cakes can be held in the refrigerator for a week or frozen for up to 6 months These cakes are single-servings to provide portion control and the calories can be controlled further by using less or none of the toppings. The mix requires only the addition of water to form a batter. We found that both the oven and microwave cooking methods worked well but the oven option gave a nicer baked look to the cakes, though the taste were equally good either way. Kids would enjoy putting these mixes together.
