We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Lifeway long known as a source for kefir has introduced Farmer Cheese Cups which are cultured after pasteurization with live kefir cultures making them an excellent source of probiotics. Farmer Cheese Cups are available as 5-ounce cups or in 16-ounce packages. The cups come with a resealable lid and mini spoon for on-the-go ease. We tasted 4 varieties.

Natural is made from 2% milk. It has no added salt. Two tablespoons have 35 calories, 4 grams of protein, 1 gram of carb, 130 milligrams of calcium, 47 milligrams of potassium, and 10 milligrams of sodium. It comes in a 16-ounce container and has a mild flavor with the spreadable texture of ricotta cheese.

Black Cherry Cup has 100 calories, 14 grams of protein, 10 grams of carb (9 of which are sugar), 150 milligrams of calcium and 35 milligrams of sodium. It has a mild, not overly sweet cherry flavor.

Organic Natural Cup has 100 calories, 18 grams of protein, 4 grams of carb (4 of which are sugar), 150 milligrams of calcium and 65 milligrams of sodium. It is USDA Certified Organic.

Organic Pomegranate-Raspberry Cup has 130 calories, 16 grams of protein, 12 grams of carb (5 of which are added sugar and 1 gram of fiber), 129 milligrams of calcium, 148 milligrams of potassium and 130 milligrams of sodium. It is USDA Certified Organic. It has a mild, not overly sweet fruit flavor.
