unspecified2-300We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Everyone loves a good hot dog every now and then, even if they won’t admit it. Abeles & Heymann has been producing excellent quality kosher hot dogs for over 60 years. The company started in 1954 in a small Washington Heights, NY butcher store run by an uncle (Oscar Abeles) and a nephew (Leopold Heymann). The family run business moved to the Bronx and more recently to New Jersey to expand the company even further.

All Abeles & Heymann hot dogs are free of fillers, gluten, artificial flavors and colors. They are certified glatt kosher (OU). The word “glatt” means smooth in Yiddish. It refers to the lack of adhesions on the lungs of the animal used to produce a product, in this case hot dogs or other deli meats.

Abeles & Heymann recommends grilling, steaming or boiling their hot dogs rather than cooking them in the microwave for the best flavor. Our tasters found the hot dogs juicy with a pleasant beef taste. We tasted a number of Abeles and & Heymann products and all were excellent.
