We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
If you like seeds this is the brand for you. Top Seedz (Crackers – Top Seedz) is a company based in Buffalo, NY with the mission of offering seed-rich crackers and roasted seeds.
Seeds are the embryo of a new plant so they are rich in health-promoting vitamins and minerals. Once considered too high in fat, we
now know that seeds contain healthy plant-based oils which should be part of a healthy diet.
Top Seedz has created a selection of crackers, almost more like chips, using a collection of seeds plus a few other ingredients. All varieties are vegan, gluten free, and certified kosher (Buffalo Vaad Hakashrus www.bvkkosher.com). It is a little hard to define a serving because the crackers come in irregular shapes. The package says 7 crackers (1 ounce) is a serving. The crackers are packaged in a 5-ounce, recloseable, plastic container, which means one-fifth of the package would be a serving.
Cumin, Rosemary and Sea Salt flavors all contain sunflower, sesame, flax and pumpkin seeds. One serving has 150 calories, 3 grams of protein, 13 grams carb (with 2 grams fiber and no sugar), and 115 milligrams of sodium (Sea Salt 90 milligrams). Sea Salt was our favorite.
6 Seed adds chia and hemp seeds to the basic seed mix and is Paleo-friendly. One serving has 170 calories, 4 grams of protein, 10 grams of carb (with 3 grams of fiber and no sugar), and 90 milligrams of sodium.
Roasted Seeds Maple Magic has just 4 ingredients – sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, maple syrup and olive oil. One serving equals 1-ounce (1/3 cup) with 160 calories, 6 grams of protein, 7 grams of carb (with 2 grams of fiber and 4 grams of sugar, 3 of which are added sugar), no sodium, and 180 milligrams of potassium. Roasted Seeds are an excellent snack, alone, or as a sprinkle on other foods.
