We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Fruitons from Traina Foods are dried fruits that are slowly, sundried. Theyare available in recloseable 6-ounce packages or 0.75-ounce snack bags. Raina Foods, family-owned and founded in 1926, is the largest source for sun dried fruits in the US.
We tasted two fruitons.
Summer Blend is a combination of diced peaches, nectarines and plums. A one-third cup serving has 105 calories, 3 grams of fiber, no added sugar, 30 milligrams of sodium, and 330 milligrams of potassium
Sun Dried California Cherries have 125 calories in a one-third cup serving, 2 grams of fiber, no added sugar, no sodium, and 400 milligrams of potassium. The cherries were sweet and delicious, and we added them to a scone recipe.
Both fruitons products were moist and retained the color of the fruit. They are kosher certified (Sunrise Kosher).
