Beyond The Equator 5 Seed Butter, launched in 2017, produces a seed butter from chia, flax, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds, plus hemp hearts (which is the hulled hemp seed). The seeds are sourced from South America.
5 Seed Butter is a nut free alternative and can be used interchangeably with nut butters. Seed butters are made the same way that nut butters are made. The seeds are ground until they reach a creamy texture. Most seed butters are similar to nut butters in their nutrition profile. 5 Seed Butter has an earthy dark tan color with slightly more protein and slightly less carb than sunflower seed butter or peanut butter.
5 Seed Butter comes in 3 varieties.
Creamy has 200 calories in a 2 tablespoons serving, 17 grams of fat, 8 grams of protein, 5 grams of carb (with 2 grams of fiber and a trace of added sugar), 1 milligram of iron, 47 milligrams of sodium and 212 milligrams of potassium. It has a creamy sweet flavor and was our favorite.
Crunchy has the same nutrition profile as creamy with a nice crunchy mouthfeel. For those who like crunchy peanut butter this is an alternative.
Unsweetened has the same nutrition profile as creamy with no added sugar. The lack of sweetness was hardly discernible even though Unsweetened does not have added brown cane sugar.
