We enjoy trying new kitchen gadgets. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Ezpz has designed a line of food-grade silicone, eating utensils for infants that are FDA and CPSCapproved. The utensils are microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and can be heated in the oven (up to 350 degrees). The line is impressively complete with many options and colors available.
We tested three of the most basic items needed for self-feeding – spoons, a cup, and a small bowl.
Tiny Spoon comes in a package with two small spoons recommended for use with infants 6 months and older. The spoons have a small, slightly curved bowl with sensory bumps at the back of the spoon to provide positional awareness in the mouth. The handles are short, fat and round to fit into tiny hands.
Tiny Cup is just that, a small, 2-ounce, infant training cup with a weighted bottom and an angled interior for even flow in the drinking position. The texture of the cup is firm but soft and the perfect size for small hands. It is recommended for infants 6 months or older. It provides a useful tool when transitioning to a cup.
The Tiny Bowl is a placemat and small bowl in one. The bowl’s raised sides allow for food to be pushed onto a spoon and the small placemat surrounding the bowl catches spills. The mat is self-sealing to the table and cannot be released by pulling on the mat or bowl. To release the suction an adult simply peels up the outer edge of the mat. Ezpz utensils were designed in collaboration with a professional speech language pathologist and have been used successfully with children with developmental disorders.
