We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Launched in the spring of 2017, BOU Bouillon Cubes stated as their mission to reinvigorate this stale food category. When we first received the samples, we must admit, we did not expect much, but we were surprised. BOU is an excellent product and will make you think again about stocking bouillon cubes in your kitchen.
BOU Bouillon Cubes are available in three flavors. Each cube is meant to be added to 2 cups of boiling water and the cubes dissolve easily. The flavors are made with a creative group of ingredients resulting in the desired punch of flavor. Any one of the flavors can stand alone as a hot broth or as the base for a recipe. Bou is not a low sodium bouillon but a one cup serving does have less sodium than other brands. All flavors are gluten free.

Ghee Cooking Spray is a new addition to the Carrington Farms product line. Ghee is made from clarified butter so the cooking spray is lactose free. It offers a pleasant buttery taste to food with little or no additional calories. The brand recommends using it for medium-high cooking. High temperatures cause butter to burn.
A one-quarter second spay has no calories or fat. However, seconds count. It takes at least one second to coat a 10-inch pan and longer for a baking dish. It is estimated that a one second cooking spray has about 5 to 7 calories. In contrast to 120 calories in 1 tablespoon of oil, using cooking spray provides significant calorie reduction, but it is still wise to spray gently.
