We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Since we first looked at Crispy Green the company has enlarged its offering of freeze-dried fruit snacks. Freeze drying involves a cold freezing, vacuum system that removes moisture from the fruit but leaves its shape and original taste. We were impressed with the taste of each variety of Crispy Green Crispy Fruit. The tangerines retained the sweet/tart flavor of the fresh as did all the other fruit flavors. The texture of each fruit is crispy but the shape and color are recognizable against the fresh.
Crispy Green Crispy Fruit are packaged in individual bags, each providing 40 calories. All varieties are NonGMO Project Verified and kosher (OU). Because each variety is simply fruit, they are gluten free and dairy free.

The company suggests not only using the Crispy Fruit as a snack or lunchbox treat but to sprinkle the fruit over a salad, yogurt, cereal or ice cream. They also suggest adding the fruits to a baked recipe. We mixed the Apple and Asian Pear into a bread pudding recipe with good results.
