Most kids love peanut butter but many schools and camps designate themselves as a peanut free zone to protect kids with peanut allergies. This can put a crimp into lunch options. WowButter is a soy-based peanut butter substitute available in creamy and crunchy varieties.
WowButter is made in a dedicated nut, gluten, dairy and egg-free facility. It has no added colors, flavors or preservatives. It is Non-GMO Project Verified, vegan, certified kosher (COR), and sourced from Canada. The taste and texture was very similar to traditional peanut butter. We preferred the creamy, but that is a personal preference. Under the peel-back label of each jar are school stickers that can be affixed to your child’s lunch to verify that WowButter is peanut free and nut free.
Two tablespoons of WowButter has 200 calories, 15 grams of fat (3 grams saturated, 9 grams polyunsaturated, 3 grams monounsaturated), no cholesterol or trans fat, 7 grams of protein, 8 grams of carb (4 grams fiber and 4 grams sugar) and 100 milligrams of sodium.
WowButter does not need to be refrigerated after opening and can be used in recipes as an equal substitute for peanut butter. We used it to make traditional peanut butter cookies and the results were excellent.
