Heinz BBQ_19oz Memphis FRONTWe love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Summer is barbecue season and barbecue sauce is always part of the menu. Heinz has worked with some of the country’s top pitmasters to create a collection of regional barbecue sauces

Classic Sweet & Thick is an amalgam of America’s best barbecue flavor. The brand recommends this flavor for dipping and it works well for that purpose with a slightly sweet flavor. A 2 teaspoon serving has 70 calories, no fat, 18 grams of carb (16 of which are sugar), and 300 milligrams of sodium.

Carolina Vinegar Style Tangy was developed along with Sam Jones from the Skylight Inn BBQ in North Carolina. It goes well with slow roasted pork and has a tangy cider-sweet taste. A 2 teaspoon serving has 35 calories, no fat, 8 grams of carb (7 of which are sugar), and 350 milligrams of sodium.

Kansas City Sweet & Smoky was developed along with Joe and Mike Pearce from Slap’s BBQ  in Kansas City. It has a sweet taste with smoky overtones. A 2 teaspoon serving has 60 calories, no fat, 15 grams of carb (13 of which are sugar), and 310 milligrams of sodium.

Memphis Sweet & Spicy was developed along with Dan Brown from Leonard’s Pit Barbecue  in Memphis. Made with dark brown sugar and molasses it truly has a sweet but spicy flavor. A 2 teaspoon serving has 50 calories, no fat, 13 grams of carb (12 of which are sugar), and 280 milligrams of sodium.

Texas Bold & Spicy was developed with Robert Sierra of the S&S BBQ Pit Crew from San Marcos, Texas. This sauce has a take-no-prisoners bold taste. It contains chili powder and anchovies. A 2 teaspoon serving has 40 calories, no fat, 9 grams of carb (8 of which are sugar), and 350 milligrams of sodium.

All of the Heinz barbecue sauces are kosher certified (OU).
