New in the Market: AYO Almondmilk Yogurt

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

As more and more nondairy milk appears on the market, it is no wonder that nondairy yogurt brands are growing in popularity as well.

Since 1913 the Billings family have grown almonds in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Their sustainably grown, organic (certified by QAI) almonds are used as the base to make AYO Almondmilk Yogurt. They are proud to say that they are the only brand of almondmilk yogurt that grows their own almonds.

AYO Almondmilk Yogurt is NonGMO Project Verified and available in four flavors: Blueberry, Strawberry, Peach, and Vanilla. The yogurt is available in a 5.3-ounce cup and the nutrition profile of the flavors are very similar. Blueberry and Vanilla have 150 calories and Strawberry and Peach 160. Each flavor has a mild almond undertone. Because almondmilk is nondairy, it is not a good source of calcium providing only 4% of your daily need or about 45 milligrams. The almondmilk, however, is lactose free, rich in probiotics with the strains listed on the ingredient list, and an excellent source of fiber.

Our tasters enjoyed all the flavors of AYO Almondmilk Yogurt, though it was thinner than the custard-like consistency of Greek yogurt.
