New in the Market: Planet Oat Oatmilk

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Planet Oat Oatmilk is a plant-based milk substitute. It is made from oats and water with enzymes added to break down the oat starch into smaller pieces resulting in a smooth beverage fortified with vitamins and minerals.

Planet Oat Oatmilk is Non-GMO Verified and kosher certified (OU). It is available in 52-ounce cartons and needs to be refrigerated. Four flavors are available. We tasted two.

Original – 6 ounces equals 1 serving with 90 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 19 grams of carb (with no added sugar and 2 grams of fiber), 350 milligrams of calcium and 400 milligrams of potassium. It offers 10% of your daily need for vitamin B12. This was our favorite.

Vanilla – has the same nutrition profile as Original but the taste is slightly sweeter.

All varieties of Planet Oat Oatmilk have been fortified with calcium and potassium to equal the amount found in dairy milk. Oatmilk is tan in color with the creaminess of lowfat milk. It can be used in cooking as a substitute for dairy milk.
