We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Terry Pirro grew up cooking with his big Italian family leading him to open Pirro’sRestaurante in Woodstock, Illinois. The restaurant became known for its pasta sauces which lead to daughter Brianna bringing Pirro’s Sauces to the retail market. Today Pirro’s is a women-owned business producing a line of traditional Italian sauces.

Five sauce varieties are available in 24-ounce jars.

Bolognese Sauce is a thick meat sauce made of veal and pancetta in a tomato/vegetable-based sauce. A one-half cup serving has 130 calories, 9 grams of fat, 5 grams of protein, 8 grams of carb (3 of which are sugar and 2 grams of fiber), and 550 milligrams of sodium.

Marinara Sauce is a traditional Italian tomato sauce. A one-half cup serving has 80 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 10 grams of carb (3 of which are sugar and 3 grams of fiber), and 520 milligrams of sodium.
