New in the Market: Just The Cheese

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Just The Cheese is a unique snack and an interesting take on cheese. They are crunchy cheese bars and bites made solely from slow baked cheese. Just The Cheese is like eating cheese and crackers without the crackers. It would make a great portable snack or good-for-you lunchbox treat.

We tasted 5 flavors.

Aged Cheddar and Grilled Cheese come two cheese bars to a package (0.8-ounce). The two bars have 150 calories, 12 grams of fat, a trace of carb, 8 grams of protein, 300 milligrams of sodium (Aged Cheddar) and 320 milligrams sodium (Grilled Cheese), and 300 milligrams of calcium (equal to the amount found in 1 glass of milk).

Garlic & Chive Cheese, White Cheddar, and Wisconsin Cheddar are crunchy cheese minis in a 0.5-ounce package. The package of each flavor has 95 calories, 8 grams of fat, 1 gram of carb, 5 grams of protein, 200 milligrams of sodium and 150 milligrams of calcium.

Our adult tasters preferred the bars because the minis tended to crumble, but our younger tasters liked the minis best. The minis also worked well as a salad topper or as a little crunch to a bowl of soup.
