New in the Market: Fawen Drinkable Soup

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Fawen is an interesting new brand of drinkable soups. Fawen comes packaged in a 16.9 ounce recyclable tetra pak which does not require refrigeration until opened. The brand recommends drinking these soups right from the package without heating. As soup lovers, at first, this idea was a little odd, but we were converted. Fawen soups can be drunk unheated at room temperature or chilled. The flavors were surprisingly good either way. We also heated Fawen (though the brand recommends not heating in the tetra pak) and, again, the flavor was excellent.

Fawen soups are ready-to-drink anytime making them a unique, healthy snack or quick lunch pick. Three flavors are available all of which have the texture of a creamy soup with an inviting color reflecting the ingredients. There are no added preservatives or sugar. All sugar is naturally occurring from the vegetable ingredients. Each soup lists the vitamin and mineral content for 16 nutrients. One cup, 8 ounces, is considered a serving.

Beet & Cabbage With Cumin has 60 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 9 grams of carb (5 of which are sugar and 3 grams of fiber), 340 milligrams of sodium, 410 milligrams of potassium, and is an excellent source of vitamin K and a good source of vitamin C.

Broccoli & Cauliflower with Turmeric has 60 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 9 grams of carb (5 of which are sugar and 3 grams of fiber), 360 milligrams of sodium, 430 milligrams of potassium, and is an excellent source of vitamins C and K and a good source of vitamin B6 and manganese. This was our favorite

Sweet Potato & Red Lentil with Cinnamon has 100 calories, 2 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein, 18 grams of carb (5 of which are sugar and 3 grams of fiber), 220 milligrams of sodium, 340 milligrams of potassium, and is an excellent source of vitamin A and a good source of vitamin C and manganese.

Fawen soups are USDA Organic, Certified Gluten-Free, Certified Vegan, NonGMO Project Verified, and kosher certified (OU).
