New in the Market: Bomb Coffee

We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

BOMB started business in mid 2016 when four veterans joined together to offer the consumer a really strong cup of coffee. They market BOMB coffee as “super caffeinated.” We tried the Original and it does have a bold, rich flavor that is not bitter. However, it is difficult to tell you exactly how much caffeine is in a cup.

BOMB coffee is made from 100% Robusta coffee beans which average 130 to 220 milligrams of caffeine in a 5 ounce cup, whereas Arabica coffee beans have 70 to 120 milligrams of caffeine in the same size cup. Beside beans, a number of additional factors affect how much caffeine is actually in the cup of coffee you drink.

First few of us drink a 5-ounce cup of coffee. A typical small coffee is 8 to 10 ounces, about the size of your morning mug. Grind, water temperature and how you make your coffee also factors into the caffeine content. Finer grind, lower temperature (below boiling) and drip or French press coffee will give you the most caffeine jolt.

All that being said BOMB coffee is a bold drink and you can maximize the boldness by proper brewing. The Robusta beans are sourced from small family farms on the slopes of the Western Ghats mountain range in the Kamataka region of India. The company is veteran owned and committed to veteran issues. For the month of November 2016 BOMB donated 22% of all sales to support causes that help prevent the 22 veteran suicides that happen every day.
