hummustirstyles-highres-300We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Hummustir is fresh hummus that you will not find in the refrigerator case at the supermarket. It is shelf-stable and does not need to be refrigerated until opened and mixed. Packed in each 12-ounce mixing cup are three pouches – organic tahini, organic chickpea puree, and spices. You simply open each tube, roll it down to push out the contents, mix and eat. Hummustir would be useful for a lunch when refrigeration is not available and would be a nice addition to a hiking meal or for campers with limited cold storage.

How many times have you bought a package of hummus and not used it quickly enough? Hummustir can sit on the pantry shelf till needed. Hummustir is USDA Organic and has no preservatives. It is available in three varieties.

Classic made simply of chickpeas, tahini and seasoning.

Mediterranean made of chickpeas, tahini, garlic and seasoning. We found this flavor somewhat salty.

Village made of chickpeas, tahini, garlic, cumin and seasoning. This flavor was our favorite and had a great garlic aroma when mixed.

Two tablespoons (1 ounce) of any variety has 45 calories, 3 grams fat, no cholesterol, 2 grams of protein, 4 grams of carb (1 of which is fiber and no sugar), and 130 milligrams of sodium.
