Reds-Steak-and-Cheese-BurritoWe love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

Red’s Natural Foods 5-ounce frozen burritos come in 8 varieties. All contain an ample serving of protein for a reasonable amount of calories. The meat and poultry used is raised without antibiotics and the burritos are free of preservatives and artificial colors and flavors. You will easily recognize every ingredient listed on each label.

We tasted 3 varieties which we reheated in the oven, the recommended method suggested by the brand.

Bean & Cheddar Burrito is USDA certified organic with 310 calories, 12 grams of protein, 9 grams of fat, 46 grams of carb (with 8 grams of fiber and 1 gram of sugar) and 450 milligrams of sodium.

Chipotle Beef & Bean has a spicy bite with 270 calories, 13 grams of protein, 7 grams of fat, 39 grams of carb (with 3 grams of fiber and 2 grams of sugar) and 490 milligrams of sodium.

Chicken & Cheese Burrito has 290 calories, 17 grams of protein, 8 grams of fat, 39 grams of carb (with 2 grams of fiber and less than 2 grams of sugar) and 500 milligrams of sodium.

Accompanied by a side salad each of these burritos makes a satisfying meal option.
