We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
Chocolate Macadamia NutsWhat could be bad about dark chocolate combined with macadamia nuts – very little? Roasted macadamia nuts, grown in Hawaii, with fruit-infused dark chocolate are the latest addition to the Royal Hawaiian Orchards brand. Dark Chocolate Macadamias are NonGMO Project Verified, gluten free and kosher certified (OU).
They are available in three flavors: Dark Chocolate Blackberry Goji, Dark Chocolate Blueberry Acai, and Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Mango. One serving (1.5 ounces), of any flavor, has 220 calories, 18 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 18 grams of carb (13 of which are sugar and 3 grams of fiber) and 10 milligrams of sodium.
Pistachio nuts have long been regarded as a healthy food rich in antioxidants and able to lower the risk of heart disease. Shelling pistachios also contributes to eating fewer calories because the simple act of shelling slows down eating and the discarded shells are a cue to how much has been eaten.
GreekPistachios-300Hellas Farms Greek Pistachios are hand-picked, sun-dried, slowly roasted, and lightly seasoned with sea salt. They have a delicate pistachio taste which is slightly sweet. If you like pistachios you will enjoy this brand. Hellas Farms Greek Pistachios come in 1.75-ounce individual bags which is a great portion control serving. One package has 159 calories, 13 grams of fat (2 of which are saturated), 6 grams of protein, 7 grams of carb (3 of which are fiber and 2 are sugar) and 113 milligrams of sodium.
