We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.
NewYorkStylePitaChips_AncientGrains&Flaxseed-300New York Style Pita Chips are baked from pita bread and have a texture halfway between a chip and a cracker.
They are excellent for dipping and our tasters enjoyed them with spreadable cheese. The company provides a suggested dip recipe on the package for pairing with each flavor. Pita Chips have no added artificial flavors or colors and are kosher certified (OU).
They are available in six flavors. We tasted two – Ancient Grains & Flaxseed and Garden Fresh Ranch. One serving, 11 chips (1 ounce), of either flavor has 130 calories, 3 grams of protein, 1 gram of fiber, 5 grams of fat, and 270 milligrams of sodium.
Simple7 Kale Chips are a new product in Simply7’s snack line. They are a kale and potato chip introduced to stores in early 2016. These crinkle cut chips are sturdier than a traditional potato chip making them a good choice for dipping. Kale Chips have no added preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. They are Non-GMO Verified, Certified Gluten-Free and kosher (cRc).kale chips-300
Kale Chips are available in three flavors. A 1-ounce serving has:
Dill Pickle – 130 calories, 6 grams of fat, 2 grams of fiber, 400 milligrams of sodium, and 79% of your daily need for vitamin K.
Lemon & Olive Oil –130 calories, 6 grams of fat, 2 grams of fiber, 390 milligrams of sodium, and 79% of your daily need for vitamin K.
Sea Salt – 140 calories, 7 grams of fat, 2 grams of fiber, 290 milligrams of sodium, and
79% of your daily need for vitamin K.
