Caffeine & Hot Flashes

Eighty-five percent of Americans drink caffeine-containing beverages every day and 65% of postmenopausal women report being bothered by hot flashes and night sweats. Researchers from the Mayo Clinic questioned over 1,800 women who visited their Women‘s Health Clinic with complaints about menopause. The results showed an association between drinking caffeine-containing beverages and the occurrence of bothersome hot flashes and night sweats. Though the results of this research are preliminary for those women who suffer with hot flashes and night sweats avoiding caffeine is a simple step that could help the problem.
