TomatoInfusedAngelHairNoOodle-300We love to try new foods. Some are great. Some don’t measure up and some become staples in our kitchen. See what you think.

We highlighted NoOodle  in an earlier New In The Market. It is one of our most widely read features.

Chef Terri Rogers, the company founder, has taken the NoOodle yam noodles, which are gluten free, fat free, and rich in the soluble fiber glucomannan and turned them into meal starters and soups. NoOodle noodles are virtually calorie free, so they can provide a low calorie alternative to pasta in many traditional recipes. The noodles by themselves have hardly any taste but take on the flavor of added ingredients. Enhancing NoOodles with ingredients or as the base for soup is an excellent product extension for this brand.

Both the soups and the meal starters come packaged in a 16.9-ounce Tetra Pak (recyclable box) with a shelf life similar to canned foods.

The meal starters come in Chicken Flavor NoOodle and the Tomato Infused Angel Hair NoOodle. Both have 20 calories in a 1-cup portion (2 portions per box). Chicken Flavor has 490 milligrams of sodium and Tomato Infused has 510 milligrams.

The soups are available in two flavors.

  • Chicken Noodle has nice chunks of chicken with 50 calories in a 1-cup serving, 5 grams of carb (1 gram of which is sugar and 2 grams fiber), 0.5 grams of fat, 10 milligrams of cholesterol, 7 grams of protein and 630 milligrams of sodium.
  • Tomato & Risotto has 50 calories in a 1-cup serving, 12 grams of carb (5 grams of which is sugar and 3 grams fiber), no fat or cholesterol, 2 grams of protein and 590 milligrams of sodium.
